Spezia 2-1 Atalanta U23s
Zanaboni on target for the Nerazzurri
Atalanta U23s suffered a 2-1 defeat away to Spezia at the Stadio Alberto Picco in their 2026/27 Serie C Sky Wifi Matchday 12 fixture.
The deadlock was broken after just five minutes, with Bright firing the hosts into the lead. The Spezia forward came close to doubling his tally shortly afterwards with an almost identical effort, but this time Anelli was alert and made the save. Spezia continued to press and, in the 13th minute, Cardinali narrowly missed the chance to make it 2-0, failing to connect from close range. Atalanta U23s looked to respond and, in the 22nd minute, Diao burst forward with one of his trademark runs, driving into the box before seeing his shot deflected behind for a corner. From the resulting delivery, Bertolini found space to meet the ball with a header that flew narrowly over the bar. On the half-hour mark, Anelli produced an outstanding save to deny Cardinali, but Spezia continued to threaten. Shortly afterwards, Capomaggio struck the post with a long-range effort, leaving the hosts inches away from doubling their advantage.
The tempo dropped after the break, with clear-cut chances few and far between for much of the second half. The game came back to life in the 74th minute when Bonanomi picked out Zanaboni with a ball in behind, but the Nerazzurri forward was unable to bring it under control in time to get a shot away. Spezia doubled their lead in the 84th minute as Durmush reacted quickest to Anelli's save from Gomez's header, turning the rebound into the net. Atalanta U23s refused to give up, however, and continued to battle until the final whistle. Their persistence paid off in the 90th minute when Bonanomi delivered an inviting free-kick from the left and Zanaboni rose to head home, halving the deficit. The late goal was not enough to complete the comeback, though, as Spezia held on to claim a 2-1 victory at the final whistle.
