Sorrento 1-1 Atalanta U23s
Nerazzurri on the scoresheet with a last-gasp Cissé goal on 90 minutes
At the Alfredo Viviani, Sorrento and Atalanta U23s played out a 1-1 draw, with the Nerazzurri rescuing a late point thanks to Cissé’s finish from the spot.
The game began at a measured pace, with both sides feeling each other out for the opening twenty minutes. The Nerazzurri’s first chance came in the 22nd minute, when Cassa tried a first-time effort, but his shot was blocked off Diop’s back. However, it was Sorrento who struck with their first real attack: Sabbatani unleashed a precise right-footed effort that flew into the top corner, leaving Vismara with no chance. The U23s responded immediately and came close to equalising—Steffanoni’s cross found Levak, whose header hit the post. In the 39th minute, the Nerazzurri created another clear opportunity with a well-worked move: a neat combination between Cassa, Misitano and Ghislandi freed the latter in front of goal, but his effort was saved.
The second half offered little in the way of chances and unfolded without major incidents until the 86th minute, when the referee awarded Atalanta a penalty for a handball by Diop in the box. From the spot, Cissé kept his composure and slotted home to make it 1-1.In the 96th minute, Navarro tried his luck with a long-range left-footed effort, but his shot was comfortably saved by the goalkeeper.
Atalanta U23s will fight for a place in the playoffs on the final matchday of the regular season facing Catania on Sunday 26 April at 18:00 CEST in Caravaggio.
