Scamacca’s return goal and chances galore, yet it’s 1-1 vs Pisa
Drawing league opener for Atalanta in Bergamo
In a bustling league opener at the Bergamo Stadium, chances piled up for Atalanta as the Nerazzurri fired 21 shots, hit the woodwork and saw Scamacca return to the scoresheet, but the 2025/26 Serie A Enilive curtain-raiser against Pisa ended 1-1.
The match took a tough turn on 26 minutes as the visitors took the lead through an untoward own goal from Hien, caught off guard in an effort to undercut Meister's finish on a left-flanked cross from Angori. On 39 minutes Carnesecchi stepped up with a great goalkeeping display to tip Moreo's point-blank header over the bar.
The Nerazzurri opened up the first half with a spring in their step, finding the equaliser as early as minute 50 when Scamacca, fed by Pašalić, cleaved the ball into the far bottom corner to draw the match 1-1 level. In the 56th, Scamacca capped off Atalanta's fast-paced link-up with a boisterous finish, but was denied by Semper. Another quick-fire effort from Atalanta, with Djimsiti surging forward as he found an opening in the box, only to fire it over. With the hosts upping the ante, on 58 minutes, Scamacca saw his brace denied by the woodwork after rising highest to meet Zalewski's cross. Semper stood firm once again to deny the headed attempt from Bellanova (63rd) and Scamacca (64th). In the 70th, Atalanta almost turned the game around with Maldini, but Semper pulled the drawbridge up once again with another great save. Despite Atalanta on the front line, spoils were shared in Bergamo as the season opener wound up in a 1-1 draw.
