Scamacca fires Atalanta into the UEFA Conference League League Phase!

A Scamacca goal sealed the second leg of the play-offs and Atalanta’s place in the 2026/27 UEFA Conference League League Phase. At the DVTK Stadion in Miskolc, the Nerazzurri beat Hapoel Tel Aviv 1-0 and, following the goalless draw in the first leg, secured qualification for the league phase of the European competition.

A hard-fought opening, but with neither side creating any real danger in the final third. The first attempt came on the quarter-hour mark through Samardžić’s left foot, but his effort caused no trouble for Tzur. Samardžić had another attempt on the 21st minute with a free kick that he had won after a mazy run. However, the set piece ended up just inches from the top corner of the goal. In the 29th minute, Alkoukin tried his luck from the edge of the box, but Carnesecchi watched his effort sail over the crossbar. In the 33rd minute, Gaetano played a fine through ball for Zalewski, whose effort was deflected behind for a corner by a defender. From the resulting corner, Kossounou headed wide from a slightly tight angle. On the stroke of half-time, Zalewski had another effort blocked by the defence, before Samardžić fired over.

The second half got off with a ranged effort from Éderson, deflected out for a corner by an opponent. In the 57th minute, Carnesecchi was alert to Mayembo’s knockdown and gathered the ball. A slick, quick combination finished off by Zalewski released Krstović, whose effort went wide via a deflection. In the 67th minute, Bellanova’s cross found Pašalić, who managed to steer the ball goalwards, but Tzur was there to make the save. The deadlock was broken in the 72nd minute. From a corner, Bernasconi’s effort from the edge of the box was met by Scamacca, who stretched out a foot to provide the decisive touch and send the ball past Tzur for the Atalanta lead. In the 80th minute, Carnesecchi was well positioned to deal with Alkoukin’s effort. In the 82nd minute, Carnesecchi produced a superb save to tip Buskila’s angled effort onto the post.

The 1-0 scoreline held until the final whistle, securing Atalanta’s place in the UEFA Conference League League Phase.

The draw will take place tomorrow (Friday 28 August) in Nyon. The team will train behind closed doors in Zingonia in the morning.
