Scalvini and De Ketelaere rally Atalanta to win in test match v Monza
Nerazzurri clinch 2-1 comeback in Zingonia
At the Centro Bortolotti in Zingonia, Atalanta came back from behind to defeat Monza 2-1 and run out winners from the pre-season friendly against the Brianza side. Second-half strikes from Scalvini and De Ketelaere completed the comeback after the visitors had opened the scoring.
While the visitors took the lead in the 14th with Birindelli, the Nerazzurri neared the equaliser on 58 minutes with Maldini before eventually netting the leveller in the 69th through Scalvini, heading the equaliser home from a corner kick taken by Kamaldeen. Shortly after, El Bilal nearly put Atalanta ahead following a cross from Bellanova. El Bilal threatened once again in the 79th, only effort to be parried out by Pizzignacco with a hockey save. The breakthrough came in the 82nd minute, with De Ketelaere finishing off a one-two with El Bilal and slotting home to make it 2-1 with a left-footer.
Tomorrow, Thursday, August 7, training will continue with a closed-door morning session at the Centro Bortolotti.
