Recap of the refresher course in scouting held in Zingonia
Last week, between May 5th and 6th, was held the refresher course in scouting, entirely taught by professionals from the Scouting and the “Attività di Base” (Grassroots football) departments of Atalanta.
The workshop was assisted by roughly 70 attendees, wishing to deepen their understanding in terms of drafting young footballers both through seminaries held at the Palace Hotel in Zingonia and on-field visits to the different training sessions held at the Centro Bortolotti.
During these meetings, held under the guidance of staffing from the Scouting Area of the Academy, due attention was given to the underlying dynamics and particularities of an area that constitutes a key asset to all high-end academies, while enriching, in the meantime, specific issues and priority themes. For instance, while Luca Silvani depicted the matrices behind the so-called map of talent, Giuseppe Biffi delved into the know-how and expertise needed to properly manage a scouting department and Andrea Pandolfi cared to stress the processes (and the importance thereof) behind data gathering and sampling
In addition, while Ivan Pelizzoli, General Secretary of Atalanta's Academy, cared to clarify topics related to the enrollment of young players and the legislative federal framework, Andrea Bassi, coach of the grassroots department, covered the underlying relations between scouting and the role of the coach.
