Primavera, Inter 0-1 Atalanta
A last-gasp penalty sees the Nerazzurri climb to 43 points in the table
Edging second-placed Inter on the 2024/25 Primavera 1 "Trofeo Giacinto Facchetti" MD34, Atalanta claimed a major three-pointer on the road as coach Bosi's sides clinched the win thanks to a clutch penalty from Simonetto in the dying minutes.
The home side sounded the first alarm in the 7th minute with Quieto, whose shot sailed over the bar. The Nerazzurri on the other hand looked to break the deadlock 26 minute in, when Riccio's point-blank strike was denied by an 11th hour save by Calligaris. At the half-hour mark Inter had another crack from distance, once again with Quieto, once again missing the target. The first half ended all square at 0-0.
Starting the second half on the front foot, Atalanta had back-to-back chances in the opening minutes: after Cakolli's header flew wide, Baldo followed suit. After Inter responded with Mosconi nodding the ball off target, the home defense was forced to a crucial defensive maneuver to stave off a backheel attempt from Riccio in the heart of the box with Simonetto's follow-up shot going over the goal. With just five minutes left on the clock, a handball was called against Inter following a header from Cakolli. Stepping up to take a penalty, Simonetto made no mistake from the spot - thus converting his 7th successful spot-kick of the season- and game Atalanta the lead. With the Nerazzurri holding firm and seeing out the result, Atalanta ran out 0-1 winners at the KONAMI Youth Development Centre.
