Primavera: Atalanta 1-3 Torino
Riccio's goal didn't suffice to stave off the Maroon side
Setback for the Nerazzurri at the Carillo Pesenti Pigna stadium in Alzano as the 2024-2025 Primavera 1 “Trofeo Giacinto Facchetti” MD6 game against Torino culminated in a 1-3 win for the visitors.
The first half proved itself levelled in Alzano Lombardo: while the Nerazzurri started off on the right foot and almost broke the deadlock on 7 minutes with Fiogbe, who finished wide missing an open-goal chance, the visitors retaliated on 21 minutes with Ciammaglichella, who saw his offensive sortie from the left flank denied and deflected out for a corner by Torrinai. The hosts closed the first fraction of the game on the offensive with two close opportunities at the threshold of halftime, first with Baldo (in the 40th) followed right after by Riccio from outside of the box. As neither attempt found any vindication, the stalemate reigned supreme at halftime.
Back on top in the opening of the second half, Fiogbe had another go when his goalbound effort towards the far post flew over the bar due to a deflection from the opposition. Torino then broke the deadlock on 57 minutes from a corner kick situation through Gabellini's header before doubling in the 64th with Acar: after approaching the hosts' goal from the offensive third, the Maroons' number 21 defeated Torriani with an instep kick. A nonetheless unyielding Atalanta halved the gap in the 82nd through Riccio, who pulled one back with a goal-line tap-in following Plaia's save. However, Torino restored the devide in a matter of minutes through Franzoni, who capitalized on Limea Oliga's through pass to make it 1-3 for the visitors. As the four minutes of extra time went by, the away side eventually imposed themselves in Alzano.
