The UYL RO16 tie against Trabzonspor on Wednesday
Matchday 28 of the 2024/25 Primavera "Trofeo Giacinto Facchetti" saw the visitors edge past the Nerazzurri at the Centro Bortolotti in Zingonia.
The match got underway with Atalanta on the offensive as Arrigoni came but a breath away from making the breakthrough mere minutes into the game. However, it was Bologna who drew first blood in the 4th with Jaku's header. The Nerazzurri retaliated swiftly with Cakolli who, upon wreaking havoc down the right, had a crack at goal, with his shot fizzling wide off target. Also in with a chance to set the score level, Armstrong saw his headed attempt ricochet on Bologna's defence before sailing over the crossbar. After Cakolli threatened again around the half-hour mark and Pardel came to the rescue in the dying minutes to keep Atalanta in the hunt by denying Bologna with two game-saving stops, the first half wound up with the visitors in the lead.
The second half began with the Nerazzurri still on the attack, with substitute Bonanomi firing wide from the edge of the area. Bosi's men continued to create clear-cut chances in the first quarter of the second half, but the visiting defenders were alert and weren't fazed by the threats. With ten minutes remaining, the Nerazzurri pushed for an equaliser through Cakolli's header, and then Pessina denied Steffanoni in the dying minutes to seal victory for the visitors.
On Wednesday 5 March, the Nerazzurri will travel to Turkey to face Trabzonspor in the last sixteen of the 2024/25 UEFA Youth League.
