Nicola Beati: "The Team Responded Well"
The Nerazzurri coach's post-match comments
Following the match against Vis Pesaro, head coach Nicola Beati reflected on Atalanta U23s' performance, discussing the team's game management, development and upcoming fixtures.
On the match: "I'll start with the goal we conceded at the end, which I didn't like at all. It bothered me because it came from a careless mistake: we need to improve. As for the match itself, we managed it well. We were up against an experienced side who find themselves in a difficult league position. It was therefore a tough game, one in which we had to fight. The team responded well and showed maturity. We still need to do better, but I'm pleased with the result."
On the upcoming fixtures: "We take each game as it comes, trying to get the best out of ourselves, starting in training. It's a development process and the lads are responding well. It's rewarding to see everyone improving. Against Spezia and Reggiana, we'll be facing teams that have come down from Serie B, so it won't be easy, but we're excited about taking on opponents like these in such important stadiums."
On managing the second half: "You need patience in matches. At times, we tried to force things when we shouldn't have, even though the lads knew what they needed to do. But it's different out on the pitch. Sometimes you plan games so that, as time goes on, your opponents start to tire. You make them move around and then, in the second half, we used our qualities to hurt them."
