Milestone Marten: de Roon makes it 282 in the Serie A
The Dutch midfielder has become the Club's recordman in the competition
By taking it to the pitch against Udinese last Sunday, Marten de Roon set a new record, becoming the player with the most Serie A appearances in the Cub's history. Marten has now made 282 appearances in Italy's top flight, leapfrogging Stefano Angeleri and Gianpaolo Bellini.
An important and prestigious milestone that was celebrated last Sunday after the Udinese match with a special kit presented by President Antonio Percassi, in front of his fans, his own crowd. And there was no better occasion to pay homage and convey all the affection, the closeness and the gratitude not solely to the footballer alone but foremost to the human values embodied by Marten de Roon, Dutch-born but Bergamasco in his heart of hearts, who contributed, like few before him, to the achievement of goals and milestones that are now integral part of the history of the Club, whilst also setting the right example, on and off the pitch, in terms of professionalism, commitment and love towards the black-and-blue colours.
A journey lived hand-in-hand, first commenced back on August 15 2015 in Bergamo in the Coppa Italia Round 3 win over Cittadella and grown over the course of the years with the many milestones that are now enshrined in the history of the Club, such as the first Champions League games and, most notably, the UEFA Europa League triumph in Dublin. As part of his lengthy voyage, here are the 282 league games (with 17 goals and 19 assists to his name and too many on-field miles to count) to write a new record in stone. And, as always, many chapters are yet to be written and lived together.
