Matteo Ruggeri hosting the 2024/25 “La Scuola allo Stadio” Round 2
The black-and-blue wingback held the spotlight in the second meet-up of the 2024/25 run
With the Gewiss Stadium opening its gates for the second gathering of the "La Scuola allo Stadio" edition 22, over 200 pupils between boys and girls attended the socio-educational workshop hosted within the black-and-blue venue and pivoted on key topics such as good practices, healthy lifestyles, prevention against bullying and cyber-bullying, environmental sustainability education...
Ending with an unexpected twist, the visit wound up with an extra special guest: the attending classes had in fact the chance to hold a with a meet-and-greet with First Team player Matteo Ruggeri, who was welcomed on the Gewiss Stadium's main stand with a thunderous standing ovation.
"I scored my first Atalanta goal in Lisbon on the occasion of the UEFA Europa League Group Stage game against Sporting CP. If you ask me and it seems like only yesterday, it was an unforgettable experience through and through: the fact that we were playing away in a packed stadium surely had its say in the matter -Matteo recalled-. When I saw my teammates rushing towards me to hug me and celebrate with me I couldn't believe my eyes. It finally dawned on me a few weeks later, if not even a full month. Yet, my most crucial goal was the one I scored in the semi-final against Olympique Marseille; it surely helped pave the way to our final triumph in Dublin... It was my most pivotal goal, no doubt about it".
"My parents taught me to always keep a level-headed attitude - Ruggeri added- because whenever you reach a new goal you should never settle but rather strive for the next one by seeing it as a new stepping stone to keep on improving. And not solely in football, but in life as well. I think that humbleness is the key factor in reaching major goals and taking off some good satisfactions along the way".
The second round of the 2024-2025 "La Scuola Allo Stadio" was graced by the presence of 215 students from: the "Istituto delle suore Orsoline" (the Ursuline Sisters' school) of Somasca, the "Mazzi" and the Capitanio first-grade secondary schools; the first grade secondary school of Mozzo and the fifth grade of the "San Giuseppe" primary school of Alzano Lombardo.
The 22nd edition of "La Scuola allo Stadio", will be back next month with the two back-to-back get-togethers scheduled for Thursday November 14 and Friday the 15th of November respectively.
