Make It Two for Marco: Carnesecchi Claims September’s Lete POTM!
Crowned by the Nerazzurri fans on the official Atalanta app
Two months down, two Lete POTM awards in the bag: Marco Carnesecchi makes it a double, getting his gloves on September’s accolade too. Having kicked off the season with August’s win, the number 29 completes the back-to-back and stays top of the Nerazzurri fans’ rankings. A flying start for the Atalanta shot-stopper, with Raoul Bellanova and Éderson claiming the remaining two spots on the podium.
September brought further proof of Carnesecchi’s trademark reliability, even in a month that offered little joy for the Nerazzurri. His performance at the Stadio Olimpico was a case in point: nine saves against Roma helped keep Atalanta in the game until the closing stages, after Éderson had fired the visitors ahead early in the second half.
Back at the New Balance Arena, Marco was on hand to deny Romano, Maldini and Obert, before a penalty tipped the balance in the visitors’ favour. The trip to Juventus completed the picture, with the number 29 once again called into action on several occasions.
That consistency between the sticks, even in a September short on rewards for Atalanta, earned Carnesecchi the fans’ vote and a second consecutive POTM Lete crown.
Raoul Bellanova takes the runner-up spot. Throughout September, the “Rho Express” made Atalanta’s right flank his own, playing every minute of all three fixtures. From the Stadio Olimpico to the Allianz Stadium, with a stop at the New Balance Arena in between, the number 16 shuttled up and down the wing, balancing attacking runs with defensive duties and even trying his luck against Cagliari. Between overlapping runs and tracking back, Bellanova also made his way up the POTM Lete rankings, finishing second in the fans’ vote.
Completing the podium is captain Éderson, who also found his scoring touch in September, firing Atalanta into a temporary lead at the Stadio Olimpico with his first goal of the season. A personal highlight in a month that offered little joy for the Nerazzurri, but still brought recognition for the number 13, who claims third place in the POTM Lete vote.
