On the road setback at the Romeo Menti stadium
As the Romeo Menti game culminated in a 3-0 win for the home side, not only did the Nerazzurri come off worst from their outing in Vicenza but the goal has resisted Atalanta U23s for the first time this season. Come tomorrow, Sunday October 27, coach Modesto's Nerazzurri will be back in Zingonia to start preparations in view of their midweek game against Pro Vercelli, scheduled for Tuesday, October 29, in Caravaggio (kick-off at 18:30 CET).
THE REPORT
Off to a bumpy start, Atalanta U23s found themselves 1-0 down in the 10th minute as Talarico broke the deadlock for the hosts through a ranged shot, eventually deflected just enough to wrongfoot Bertini. While Obrić performed a flawless undercut to deny Zampano on 24 minutes; Zonta frittered a chance away for Vicenza 60 seconds later. Reciprocating in kind on 28 minutes, De Nipoti went for a ranged shot but to no avail. In the 42nd Zonta neared the hosts' second as his header smashed the post, while De Nipoti had the last chance of the second half on 46 minutes when he steered his headed attempt goalward.
Right after making his substitute appearance, Ghislandi tried to shake the second half up on 58 minutes, when his drive from outside the box got punched out by Confente. On 69 minutes the hosts doubled through Della Morte. Despite Scheffer and Panada's attempts at turning the tide of the game, Rauti cleaved the ball into the top corner with a first-touch ranged shot to put the match to sleep on 83 minutes.
