"Impegno Cup", For Special finish second

Last weekend, the Atalanta For Special team took part in the first edition of the "Impegno Cup," a paralympic football tournament open to all.

In front of a wonderful crowd gathered for the occasion at the stadium in Venegono Superiore, in the province of Varese, the Nerazzurri took to the pitch for the qualifying matches against Inter and Varesina, the host team of the tournament, earning the right to play in the final against Lugano.

The first match of the day for the For Special team was the one against Inter, a strong and determined team.
Atalanta took the lead just a few minutes in, thanks to a perfectly executed shot by Probo, showing they were fully focused and ready from the start. Inter didn’t sit back and responded by raising the level of the game, creating an intense match full of end-to-end actions. Just seconds before the halftime whistle, Inter equalized.
In the second half, the For Special increased their pace and regained the lead with a goal from Caccia, who finished skillfully after a one-two with Testa. Inter tried hard to level the score again, but their efforts fell short, and Atalanta moved on to the next round.

The Nerazzurri were straight back on the pitch to face the tournament hosts, Varesina. The match was played at a high tempo, with both teams going head-to-head in an open and competitive game.
Midway through the first half, Atalanta took the lead thanks to Pezzotti, who found the net with a nice finish, getting the better of the excellent opposing goalkeeper.
The second half saw continuous end-to-end action, but once again it was Atalanta who came out on top, as Pezzotti struck again to double the lead and secure a place in the final.

A complicated beginning of the match for the Nerazzurri who, in front of a superior opponent such as Lugano, suffered the pressure and went one goal down at the fifth minute at the end of a beautiful action orchestrated by the Swiss team. Atalanta, however, did not give up, starting to grind the game and to produce chances that yielded the equalizing goal: at the end of the first first half, Pezzotti finalized an action started from a throw-in.
In the second half, Lugano defended well against the Nerazzurri's great pressing and, on several occasions, created some danger on the counterattacks: just from one of these actions the Swis team went ahead again. The For Special failed to take advantage of two clear goal opportunities conceding the 3rd opponent's goal.
