Gian Piero Gasperini awarded the Enzo Bearzot prize
Succeeding to Simone Inzaghi and Luciano Spalletti in the Roll of Honour
On Wednesday, February 12, Gian Piero Gasperini was conferred the esteemed "Enzo Bearzot" award.
The Atalanta coach was honoured by a distinguished jury, chaired by the President of the FIGC Gabriele Gravina.
“An unparalleled specimen in Italian football for his long-term success at the helm of a single team, Gian Piero Gasperini has been synonymous with both an attractive playing style and consistent results. Yet, his pursuit of victory, lionized by the UEFA Europa League triumph -namely, the most recent continental trophy lifted by an Italian Club - did not come at the expense of his ethos, which pivoted on discipline, educational values and the leading role of teamwork. On the grounds of the aforementioned qualities, both personal and professional, which align seamlessly with the legacy of Enzo Bearzot, along with the outstanding victory claimed by Atalanta, Gasperini was thus made the unanimous recipient of the 2025 Enzo Bearzot Prize, a fitting prize to pay homage and tribute the memory of the great ‘Vecio’ of Italian football". Such was the official rationale provided by the jury for awarding coach Gian Piero Gasperini the latest Enzo Bearzot Award, now in its fourteenth edition and promoted by FIGC and US ACLI, the latter chaired by Damiano Lembo.
The official announcement of the award to coach Gasperini took place this afternoon in Rome, at the "Paolo Rossi" Hall of the FIGC.
"I am deeply grateful for this prestigious recognition, named after a legendary coach and an extraordinary man of sport. Although this is a personal recognition, I wish to share it wholeheartedly with my entire staff, my players, my Club, the city of Bergamo, and the Atalanta fans, who have all played a key role in reaching these fulfilling achievements", Gian Piero Gasperini remarked in his acceptance message.
