Former players at the next gen’s service
Employed in the Academy to convey the values of Atalanta on and off the pitch
Many former Atalanta players are currently entrusted with roles within the Academy to ensure a proper generational turnover.
The article serves the purpose of offering our most heartfelt thanks to all those most cherished professionals who, after taking their first footballing steps in the Academy of Zingonia and rising the ranks up to the Serie A, now dispense their expertise and guidance in the service of the new generations of footballing, nurturing them throughout their path of personal and professional growth on and off the pitch.
Foremost, they are entrusted with the role of passing all those values, so deeply enrooted within Atalanta’s DNA to be the core and essence of our Orobic spirit, they had so profoundly embraced during the many years defending Atalanta’s crest.
Performing their tasks either from a more corporate standpoint, like Ivan Pelizzoli, appointed Secretary of the Academy, or directly from the pitch, like the many trainers making up the staff of our various teams and departments. For instance, the likes of: Marco Zanchi (assistant coach of our Primavera); Stefano Lorenzi and Rolando Bianchi (respectively, coach and assistant coach of the U18 side); Gianpaolo Bellini (coach) and Gabriele Perico (assistant coach) for the U17; Roberto Previtali (coach of the U14).
Without overlooking Giancarlo Finardi, Coordinator of the Academy and pillar of the black-and-blue Youth Sector, together with Alessio Gambirasio (coach of the U15), flaunting a similar background within Atalanta’s Academy. In addition to all those former footballers born and bred on the outskirts of Bergamo, amongst all those “off-site” players who received their football education in Atalanta’s youth sector to later on debut in the 1st team, it is worth mentioning Andrea Di Cintio (assistant coach of the U13) and Michael Girasole (assistant coach of the U12).
