EA SPORTS FC Supercup: Inter 2-0 Atalanta
In the semifinal tie held in Saudi Arabia
At the Al-Awwal Park Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, Inter came through the EA SPORTS FC Supercup 2024-2025 semifinal and advanced to the final.
Despite Inter creating the first chances early on, Kossounou and then Zappacosta were well-alert and blocked Lautaro and Mkhitaryan's shots. Then, in the 10th minute, Carnesecchi pulled off a great save to deny Lautaro's volley. While on 16 minutes Scalvini saw his headed point-blank attempt blocked by Sommer, Carnesecchi sprung into action once again with a double prowess, first deflecting Lautaro Martinez's mano-a-mano, then saving Di Marco's strike. As Brescianini and Lautaro's effort didn't pan out, the first half closed on a 0-0 stalemate.
The deadlock was broken in the opening of the second half with Dumfries' acrobatic strike, amidst Atalanta's protests over a prior shove on Scalvini in the build-up. Inter doubled in the 61st with Dumfries, who completed his brace after his shot rebounded off the bottom of the crossbar and into the net. In the 70th minute, Carnesecchi denied Lautaro with a superb hockey save. On 72 minutes Éderson found the back of the net after a scramble in the Inter penalty area, but the 2-1 goal was then ruled out for a previous offside from De Ketelaere following a VAR review. Atalanta pushed until the final moment, but Sommer made a double save in the 90th minute to deny close-range shots from Djimsiti and Lookman.
