De Ketelaere and Zalewski deliver in Florence draw
Fiorentina-Atalanta ended 2-2 at the Franchi
Atalanta earned a valuable point on a tough away trip to Florence, with De Ketelaere and Zalewski both finding the net in a hard-fought 2-2 draw against Fiorentina at the Stadio Artemio Franchi in the 2026/27 Serie A Enilive Matchday 9.
The Nerazzurri were forced into an early change as Kristensen went off injured, with Scalvini replacing him after just four minutes. The hosts made a strong start, with Pellegrino firing wide, Mastantuono forcing Carnesecchi to turn his effort behind for a corner and Fagioli shooting over the bar, all within the opening quarter of an hour. On 19 minutes, Atalanta had a chance of their own as De Ketelaere delivered a cross from the left, which Krstović let run through for Elmas to strike first-time, only for his effort to be blocked by Viery. Just before the half-hour mark, Carnesecchi reacted well to keep out Ndour's shot with his foot after the ball had taken two dangerous deflections. On 37 minutes, a neat passing move played Gaetano into the box, but his powerful right-footed effort flew over. Fiorentina responded a minute later through Mastantuono, whose left-footed strike also cleared the bar. The breakthrough came on 41 minutes: Gaetano did brilliantly to win back possession before De Ketelaere exchanged passes with Zalewski and placed a left-footed finish into the bottom corner to put us ahead at the Franchi. We almost doubled our lead moments later, as Krstović met De Ketelaere’s cross with a downward header that forced De Gea into a fine save. At the other end, Pellegrino then headed off target.
The second half began with a change to the refereeing team, as fourth official Marinelli replaces the injured La Penna. On 48 minutes, Mastantuono went for goal from a free-kick, but his effort went wide. Fiorentina then equalised 5 minutes later with Nije, heading home the equaliser in the 53rd. Fiorentina took the lead on 61 minutes when João Mário’s long-range effort took a decisive deflection, wrong-footing Carnesecchi. The Nerazzurri looked to respond immediately through Krstović, whose right-footed effort went narrowly wide. The equaliser came on 74 minutes: De Ketelaere timed his run perfectly down the right and slipped the ball through to Zalewski, who cut inside and found the gap at the near post with a right-footed finish to beat De Gea and make it 2-2. The final clear-cut chance fell to De Ketelaere on 90 minutes, but the Belgian's right-footed effort was kept out by a diving De Gea. The match at the Stadio Franchi ended 2-2.
The Nerazzurri will be straight back to work on Friday morning with a behind-closed-doors training session at the Centro Bortolotti in Zingonia.
