Cutting the ribbon on the Gewiss Stadium's Parking
The ceremony was attended by the main Atalanta, ATB and Municipality of Bergamo representatives
Today took place the formal opening of the Gewiss Stadium's underground parking site: located in the Goisis Square-Curva Sud Morosini and with a capacity of 348 parking spaces, built by Atalanta BC following the implementation plan of the "Stadio Atalanta" urban development agreement. To be run by ATB Mobilità, the management of the parking area will follow the collaborative and intermodality agreement undersigned by Atalanta, Municipality of Bergamo and ATB Mobilità.
"A particular thanks goes to the Percassi family, together with all the other stakeholders involved, and to the Municipality of Bergamo and ATB, with whome we have created a constant dialogue- such were the opening words of Atalanta BC's General Director for the Corporate Area Andrea Fabris -. I also wish to convey a further acknowledgment to all those who played a key contribution in the completion of such oustanding and highly-coveted opus, namely and foremost to Roberto Spagnolo and to the whole Atalanta team, who spared nothing to meet such remarkable achievement. With this long and sometimes arduous journey now completed, we can say with confidence that this endeavour stands as another token of how much Atalanta believe, care about and value their root. Today we give back to the city a new facility, a truly stunning result in its own right even more so considering the temporary sacrifices required to the citizens for its implementation".
"Today marks a very special day. Thanks to an effort of invaluable team-work, whe have cut the ribbon on a new facility that embodies the new step in our drive for a more sustainable mobility and a more integrated city overall - declared ATB Mobilità's General Director Liliana Donato-. This achievement would have never been possible without the efforts of Engineer Vito Pavone, his staffing and all his collaborators, who profused their utmost professionalism in the project. Given its role of main stakeholder of the project, ATB Mobilità is directly involved in the infrastructural management of the facility, seen as a lynchpin in our day-to-day offer of mobility services. This parking zone, devised to accommodate private vehicles, will provide citizens a handy alternative on their way to the city centre, whilst encouraging the use of local public means of transportations together with more sustainable and alternative mobility options. In summation, it is a further feather to our cap in an effort to improve quality of life in the neighbourhood and the city as well through a service that goes beyond a mere parking provision. I wish to tender my thanking to Atalanta and the Municipality of Bergamo, who made it all possible".
"This is a public work of capital importance, despite the alleged drawbacks contrarians may bring up - closed off Marco Berlanda, Councillor for Public Mobility of the Municipality of Bergamo-. Whenever it comes down to parking areas, the clichè goas that demand is rarely met, just like looking at a glass that, according to the point of view, is either half full or half empty. With parking stalls never being enough as the demand is always so strong, the half-full glass lays in the chance of taking 350 odd cars off the streets by moving them to an underground structure, in addition to the 100 new topside places . Delving further into the topic, we're planning to encompass Atalanta, together with other major stakehholders, into a permanent working group to best manage the "stopover situation" in an attempt to find solutions capable of meeting the needs of residents, football fans and commuters".
Otherwise open 24/7, on the occasion of any sporting or other events, the parking spot will be exclusively reserved to the attendees and thus rendered unaccessible also to parking pass holders from 8 hours prior to the beginning of the evnt to 4 hours after its completition and, in any case, within the agreed timelines and disposition issued by the relevant authorities in matters of public securities.
