Atalanta win the GLGS-USSI "Team of the Year" Award

"From ItalDea to... EuroDea. After dazzling in the Serie A, Atalanta and their coach Gian Piero Gasperini have left their mark also in Europe by lifting their first historic Continental laurel: the UEFA Europa League. Never before as this year has Bergamo been... the talk of the town. This is a fitting and most deserved award for the éercassi family who, ever since retaking the reigns of the Club almost 15 years ago, has never ceased to bring plenty of joy and accomplishments to the black-and-blue crowd, whilst also shoring up even further an Academy that represents an absolute paragon in Italian football".

With such commendations as a calling card, the Gruppo Lombardo Giornalisti Sportivi (Group of Sports Journalists of Lombardy) introduced Atalanta as the winner of the "Team of the Year" award, the recognition bestowed in the afternoon of today, Monday October 28, during the course of the celebrations for the "Festa delle premiazioni del GLGS-USSI Lombardia" ("Celebrations of the GLGS-USSI Lombardia awards"), namely the yearly appointment dedicated to the honouring of the sporting excellences of Lombardy.

The Bergamo Club, therein represented by Director General for the Corporate Area Andrea Fabris, has been honoured for lifting the UEFA Europa League laurel.

Upon stepping up to the stage of the Teatrino del Palazzo Visconti in Milan, the black-and-blue Director General thus held the floor for the acceptance speech: “First and foremost, I wish to convey the thanks of the Percassi family for receiving such a coveted award. Being a testament to teamwork this recognition is meant to be shared with all the people involved: be it the whole Club top-bottom, from the employees and the collaborators to the team and the coach, to all the fans and the city of Bergamo altogether. Dedication and commitment are the pillars of the message Atalanta wish to convey on and off the pitch. And the completion of the Gewiss stadium is a tangible example".
