Atalanta v Fiorentina: the stats report
First win at the new Gewiss Stadium
With the new Gewiss Stadium setting the scenery for the Nerazzurri's seasonal home first, Atalanta have claimed their second win after defeating Fiorentina. As pointed out by Opta's Stats Perform, Atalanta have found their scoring ways in 17 successive Serie A domestic clashes for the first time since the March 1996-March 1997 stint (with the count stopping at 18 in that instance).
Back on the scoresheet, not only did Mateo Retegui bag his fourth goal in the last four league games; but he also became the leading player in Europe's Top-5 leagues for headed goals scored (3). More broadly speaking, no other player except for Marcus Thuram has scored more nets in the Serie A thus far. With both Charles De Ketelaere and Ademola Lookman featuring the scoreboard, the Nigerian winger has both scored and provided an assist in his last two Serie A games (namely, he provided the key pass to the Nerazzurri's opener). As a further statistical trivia, the last time Lookman flaunted both his scoring and assisting prowess in a single game occurred in the game against Fiorentina back on June 2 2024.
While yesterday marked Marten de Roon's 350th Atalanta appearance in all competitions, Mario Pašalić reached the milestone of 200 Serie A games donning the black-and-blue shirt. Lastly, Sunday's win also meant Berat Djimsiti's 100th Serie A success as an Atalanta player.
Closing off with some individual figures provided by the Serie A's official Match Report, while Lookman was the leading player in terms of most shots fired and dribbles (5 each) together with Raoul Bellanova; De Ketelaere topped the chart for successful passes on the offensive third (9). Marten de Roon was also the benchmark as far as both balls played (77) and conducive passes (46) are concerned.
