Atalanta v Bologna: the stats report
Nerazzurri now on 61 points, holding firm in third
The win over Bologna confirmed the Nerazzurri's third place in the table with 61 points: Mateo Retegui not only set the tone early on with his fastest Serie A goal to date, scoring after just three minutes, but also confirmed his position at the top of the scoring charts with his 23rd goal of the campaign. Compared with Atalanta's previous scoring recordmen, having Mateo just equalled Zapata's seasonal best of 23, only Filippo Inzaghi has scored more than the number 32 (namely 24 back in the 1996/97 season) in a single Serie A campaign. Also turning provider for Atalanta's second of the game, Retegui has taken his accumulated offensive contribution to 28 (23 goals and 5 assists), a figure bettered only by Salah, Kane and Marmoush across Europe's Top-5 leagues in 2024/25.
With the opener coming courtesy of a sharp Raoul Bellanova assist, the Italian wingback has now increased his "wingman" count to 7: Atalanta's number 16 has thus joined the likes of Chrisitan Pulisic and Rafael Leão as one of only three players to record 7+ assists in both of the last two Serie A campaigns.
Sealing the win over the Felsineans, Mario Pašalić bagged his third league goal of the season.
