Atalanta v Arsenal: the stats of the game
The Nerazzurri claimed their first point in the new Champions League format
With last night's draw against Arsenal, the Nerazzurri have claimed their first point in the new Champions League. As pointed out by Opta Facts' Stats Perform, Atalanta have thus updated their previous logs against English outfits in the UCL, having now run out unbeaten at least once from matches against four different Premier League sides (Manchester, City, Manchester United, Liverpool and now Arsenal) since the 2019/20 season, namely the Club's debut campaign in the competition. Only Bayern Monaco (5 different Clubs from across the Channel) has done better in the meantime.
In addition to Juan Cuadrado making his official debut with the Atalanta shirt, the Gewiss Stadium night marked another momentous personal milestone for Marten de Roon: by making his 22nd UEFA Champions League appearance as a Nerazzurro, the Atalanta captain became the most UCL-capped player in the history of the Orobic Club, thus besting Remo Freuler's previous record of 21 games on the biggest Continental stage.
