Atalanta U23s 2-0 Caldiero Terme
Mission accomplished thanks to 2nd-half goals by Vlahović and De Nipoti
Talking about a welcome homecoming! After skipping a turn last week, coach Modesto's lads walked off the Municipal stadium of Caravaggio with the full 3 points after defeating Caldiero Terme.
Match Report
With the Nerazzurri opening the game on the offensive the first chances of the game had a black-and-blue hue to them: while on 7 minutes Navarro ignited Vlahović with a daisy-cutter pass through the line, with the Serbian striker eventually having his attempt deflected out for a corner, in the 10th it was Panada who set Vanja back into action, with the black-and-blue number 99 earning himself another corner kick in the end. On 27 minutes Vlahović had his third go following another Panada long ball but failed to hit the target. As the U23s' pressing persisted, Vlahovic threatened once again in the 31st and forced Giacomel's frontward deflection, with Alessio opting for a back-hell finish on the rebound but to no avail. Bergonzi followed suit on 44 minutes: after a give-and-go with Alessio, the black-and-blue wingback finished wide to the side.
The match opened up on 65 minutes as a sly Vanja Vlahović capitalized on a dodgy backpass from the opposition to finally break the deadlock. The Nerazzurri's second of the game was not long in coming: fresh off the bench, substitute De Nipoti left his mark in the 68th minute when he cleaved his ranged left-footer straight into the top corner after leaving his marker in the dust.
