Atalanta U23s 1-2 Alcione Milano
The visitors imposed themselves in Caravaggio
Atalanta U23s got off to a bitter debut in the 2024/25 Serie C NOW as Alcione Milano came out on top in Caravaggio with a 2-1 win on MD1.
After the visitors take the lead as a defensive misstep from coach Modesto's lads favoured the away goal from Invernizzi, the Nerazzurri fended off the bumpy start nearing the equaliser 9 minutes into the game: upon breaking into the box being fed a through pass from Bernasconi, Vlahović managed to sting the opposing keeper's gloves. Alcione threatend again in the 15th minute, when their ranged drive sailed off target, On 29 minutes Vlahović had another go trying to capitalize on Vavassori's dummy, with the Serbian striker finalizing too high. It was then Vavassori who tried his hand within minutes: first in the 32nd with a volley finish following a corner-kick situation and then in the 36th, when he unleashed an amzing curler after shrugging off his marker. Alas, neither chance panned out for the Nerazzurro. As Panada's free-kick attempt flew over the bar, the first half ended with the hosts trailing at halftime.
Coach Modesto's Nerazzurri couldn't ask for a better second-half start: on 47 minutes Vavassori levelled the game thanks to a stunning volley finish on Vlahović's assist. While the Serbian striker loomed over twice in the 54th and 65th respectively, neither attempt sufficed to trouble Bacchin. Minute 68th saw the visitors missing the 2-1 goal by a hair as the opposing counter culminated with Palombi smacking the post. 78 minutes on the stopwatch and it was Bagatti who restored the lead for the Milan-based side as his headed finish edged past Dajcar. Despite Atalanta U23s' relentless and persisten efforts to find the equalizer, the visitors ended up imposing themsleves 2-1 in Caravaggio.
