Bergonzi broke the deadlock with his seasonal scoring debut
Honours even in Caravaggio and the first point at home in the 2024/25 campaign for coach Modesto's lads as the Serie C NOW Group A MD4 fixture between Atalanta U23s and Trento culminated in a 1-1 draw at the end of an intense choral display from the hosts. Opening the scoring with his first seasonal goal, Bergonzi gave the Nerazzurri the temporary lead.
The Nerazzurri had the first chance of the game with Cassa who, upon being left unmarked, loosened a shot from the edge of the box on 4 minute, eventually shielded by Trento's defence. 7 minutes in and Ghislandi cut through the opponents' lines with a long pass to Ignite Alessio: upon controlling the ball, the black-and-blue striker tried to steer it in the box towards Gyabuaa but saw his prompt cleared out for a corner. As coach Modesto's Nerazzurri doubled down on the pressing, chances racked up by the minute: first came Ghislandi, whose 36-minute attempt from a corner kick got cleared out. Then, on 40 minutes, the hosts' efforts found their vindication: after a give-and-go with Bergonzi, Panada played on for the wingback with a first-touch pass: freed into the box, Bergonzi broke the deadlock with a stunner. Despite Trento's retaliation with Giannotti's out-of-the-box finish, Dajcar parried the visitors' attempt without a hitch.
As the referee awarded Trento a penalty after calling a foul on Dajcar's on-rushing intervention following a corner kick situation, Peralta equalised for the visitors from the spot on 49 minutes. Despite the setback. Atalanta U23s didn't bow down but struck back instead. On 53 minutes Bergonzi entered the box and after, moving the ball to the left foot. finished too high. On 54 minutes the black-and-blue 66 hogged the spotlight in the other box and performed a key defensive cutback on Trento's striker. 75 minutes in and in went Alessio this time, finalising too high after gathering Bergonzi's pass in the box. On 81 minutes recently subbed in De Nipoti threatened the visitors, missing the target by inches after finding the right opening. In the 88th Muhameti retrieved the ball and ignited Cassa's counter, with Tommasi managing to deny the Nerazzurro in the one v one.
