Atalanta mourning the passing of Oliviero Garlini

The Club's sympathies go to the relatives and loved ones

Deeply saddened, Atalanta mourn the passing of Oliviero Garlini.

A native of Stezzano and born in 1957, Garlini donned the Atalanta shirt during the 1987/88 season and part of the 1988/89 campaign, scoring 27 goals (namely, 18 in the Serie A, 6 in the Coppa Italia and 3 in the European Cup Winners' Cup) in 55 appearances for the Nerazzurri.

A capitol figure in the Club's return to Serie A in the 1987/88 season with his 17 goals, Garlini etched his name in the Atalanta history as one of the key protagonists behind the memorable Cup Winners' Cup cavalcade, leaving his mark with goals against Welsh side Merthyr Tydfil, Greek outfit Ofi Creta and the penalty scored against KV Mechelen in the semi-final return leg played in Bergamo.

Offering their heartfelt compassion to Garlini's loved ones, President Antonio Percassi, co-chairman Stephen Pagliuca and the whole Atalanta family wish to tender their most heartfelt condolences and deepest sympathies.
