Atalanta knock Napoli 3-0 out courtesy of Lookman-Retegui duo!
Fifth consecutive league win for the Nerazzurri
Thanks to a flawless choral display further embellished by Lookman's brace and Retegui's last-minute stunner, Atalanta overturned current Serie A leaders and seized the Diego Armando Maradona stadium in Naples to claim their 5th consecutive win in the 2024-2025 Serie A Enilive: MD11 sees the Nerazzurri (donning the yellow shirt today) leave the Campania capital 3-0 victors.
After Carnesecchi neutralised Lukaku's header without a hitch, the Nerazzurri were the ones breaking the deadlock on 10 minutes instead: De Ketelaere flicked the ball for Lookman, who vanquished Meret with a first-touch left-footer. Napoli retaliated first with McTominay, who smacked the post 60 seconds later, and then with Anguissa, who saw his 19-minute effort negated by a well-alert Carnesecchi. After Pašalić had his go with an on-twist shot on Lookman's solo play, the Nigerian striker doubled it on 31 minutes: after gathering De Ketelaere's pass, Mola burst through the middle and bagged his second of the game with an unstoppable ranged right-footed scorcher. De Ketelaere followed suit soon after but his effort flew slightly high. With the Belgian getting out his magic wand once again, CDK ignited Pašalić at the threshold of halftime, whose header ballooned slightly off target.
In the second half, the Nerazzurri threatened again in the 56th minute through Zappacosta, whose angled drive was deflected wide for a corner. One minute later, Kolašinac saw his goal disallowed for offside, while Rrahmani's 60-minute header was wide. In the 66th Carnesecchi flew to defuse Buongiorno's aerial sortie with a quick-witted save. The Nerazzurri threatened a third in the 75th minute when Kossounou sprinted away on the counter and found Lookman, who hit the side-netting with his finish. In the closing minutes of the game, substitute Retegui left his mark nonetheless: 92 minutes on the stopwatch and the current Serie A topscorer made it 3-0 for the visitors by converting Bellanova's assist.
