Atalanta head back to Germany for the second preseason test of 2025/26

Friendly in Cologne on Saturday, August 9

Following their preseason clash with RB Leipzig on August 2, Atalanta will continue their German tour as Ivan Jurić’s Nerazzurri face 1. FC Köln in their second 2025/26 preseason test, set to take place at the RheinEnergieStadion in Cologne on Saturday, August 9, at 15:30 CEST.

Following their 2024 relegation, Die Geißböcke bounced back at the first time of asking by topping the 2. Bundesliga standings upon finishing two points clear of Hamburg and three ahead of Elversberg to seal their return to the top flight.

Founded in 1948, FC Köln – whose official colors are white and red – boasts a trophy cabinet that includes seven titles: three Bundesliga and four German Cups.

There have been two previous encounters between Köln and Atalanta, both dating back to the 1990/1991 season, when the two teams faced off in the UEFA Cup Round of 16 (now Europa League). The outcome of the two-legged tie favored the Nerazzurri, who first drew 1-1 in Köln and then secured a 1-0 victory in the return leg in Bergamo, with a winning and qualifying goal scored by Nicolini, assisted by Caniggia.

In the coming weeks, all information regarding ticket purchase procedures for the away section will be made available on FC Köln official website at www.fc.de.
