Atalanta For Special hosted at the Fair Play 2025 event
The Nerazzurri have been invited to represent Lombardy
The Atalanta For Special team was one of the standout guests at the maiden edition of the Special Fair Play 2025 event, held on May 16–17 and organised by the FIGC Paralympic and Experimental Football Division (DCPS) at the “Giulio Onesti” Olympic Training Centre in Rome.
One team from each region was invited to take part in the event, selected for their acts of fair play throughout the season. Atalanta For Special was chosen to represent the Lombardy region thanks to its remarkable decision to voluntarily withdraw, undefeated and leading the table, from the third-tier DCPS regional championship, thereby also forgoing participation in the regional and national finals.
The event was a joyful celebration, attended by around 180 athletes from 12 teams representing 11 Italian regions. Among the dignitaries present were Gabriele Gravina (President of FIGC), Giovanni Malagò (President of CONI), Ezio Simonelli (President of Lega Serie A), and Franco Carraro (President of DCPS), who officially opened the event.
Following the institutional greetings, the matches kicked off. The Nerazzurri took part in a six-team friendly tournament, playing three matches and securing three victories. Atalanta For Special triumphed over Stella del Mare (Marche), San Paolo Sassari (Sardinia), and Lastrigiana (Tuscany).
To conclude this event focused on inclusivity and respect, DCPS President Franco Carraro and National DCPS Coordinator Giovanni Sacripante awarded commemorative medals to all participating teams, marking the memory of a meaningful and emotional experience.
