Atalanta defeat Udinese 2-0 at the Gewiss Stadium
De Ketelaere inspires, Miranchuk and Scamacca convert
Matchday 22 of the 2023-2024 Serie A TIM saw Atalanta record their fifth consecutive league win at the Gewiss Stadium in Bergamo as the Nerazzurri beat Udinese 2-0 with two first-half goals to move to 36 points.
After a couple of efforts from Scamacca and shots from Scalvini and De Ketelaere that were saved by Okoye, the deadlock was broken in the 33rd minute when De Ketelaere pulled back from the left for Miranchuk, whose finish found the bottom corner. Udinese tried to respond, but Carnesecchi was alert and denied Ebosele on 35 minutes and Samardzic, whose left-footed shot was tipped over the bar by the Atalanta goalkeeper. Lovric also shot wide in between. On the stroke of half-time, Scamacca doubled Atalanta's lead with an angled shot, again assisted by De Ketelaere.
The visitors started the second half on the front foot, with Walace's shot tipped over the bar by Carnesecchi and Ehizibue's effort cleared and deflected for a corner by Kolašinac. Holm went close in the 56th minute, but his overhead kick was kept out by the Udinese goalkeeper. After a couple of efforts from Muriel and Zappacosta, the game at the Gewiss Stadium ended in a 2-0 victory for Atalanta.
Gasperini's men will now enjoy two days off as the Nerazzurri resume training on Tuesday afternoon with a behind-closed-doors session at the Centro Bortolotti in Zingonia.
