After Marseille, Atalanta also conquer Frankfurt with a thumping 3-0 win
Goals from Lookman, Éderson and De Ketelaere lift the Nerazzurri to 10 points in the UCL table
Atalanta made it back-to-back away wins in the UEFA Champions League this season, adding Frankfurt to their list of scalps after the triumph over Olympique de Marseille. Goals from Lookman, Éderson and De Ketelaere saw the Nerazzurri rise to 10 points from five games with a resounding 3–0 victory at the Waldstadion — a perfect UCL debut in the dugout for head coach Palladino.
It was a high-tempo affair, played in a charged atmosphere thanks to the historic bond between Atalanta and Eintracht Frankfurt supporters. The first real warning came from the hosts, as Chaibi stung Carnesecchi’s gloves in the 11th minute. The game truly sparked into life on 35 minutes, when the Nerazzurri came within a whisker of breaking the deadlock twice in sixty seconds: Lookman’s left-footed strike clipped the base of the post, and Scamacca then rattled the upright with a powerful follow-up effort. At 38’, a smart block from Zappacosta kept the scores level. The Nerazzurri pushed hard in the final moments before the break, but Eintracht held firm, forcing a couple of corners to see out the half.
The breakthrough arrived after the interval, with Atalanta striking three times in a blistering six-minute spell. Lookman broke the deadlock just past the hour mark, steering home De Ketelaere’s cross with a classy first-time finish. Éderson doubled the advantage on 62 minutes at the end of a flowing team move, finishing off Lookman’s cut-back from close range. And just three minutes later, after Scamacca rattled the crossbar, De Ketelaere reacted quickest to bury the rebound and make it 3–0. A dominant second-half display sealed a statement win for the Nerazzurri, who now sit on 10 points in the Champions League standings.
