Academy: this weekend’s outcomes (22-23/4)
The U15s punching their ticket to the round of last-16
Mission accomplished for the Under 15 as our lads conquered a spot for the stage of last-16 after imposing themselves in the playoff fixture against Brescia in a match littered with thrills and spills of all sorts and with the goal galore only resting on the final twist of the dial. The black-and-blues trained by coach Gambirasio defeated Brescia 3-2 after a gruelling match: although the Swallows shot first, Atalanta found the temporary equalizer courtesy of Percassi. As Brescia found again the lead scoring a goal with still 15 minutes to go, the Black-and-blues enter comeback mode and managed, through a labour of sheer grit and relentless forcing, to turn the match around, punching their tickets to the next stage courtesy of Martano's brace. To add further credit to our players' performance, a draw would have still sufficed to make it to the next stage of the competition.
Moving on to another feat seized today by the black-and-blue Academy the Under 17 closed the regular-season securing third place, on the grounds of the 1-0 victory clinched in their latest outing against Como (courtesy of Baldo). As for the Under-18, they came off worst from yesterday's home match played against Inter at the Centro Bortolotti as they suffered a 4-1 defeat (with Manzoni scoring Atalanta's consolation goal directly from a free-kick).
Following in the Under 14's footsteps, also the Under 13 qualified for the Interregional Phase of the U13 Pro league on the grounds of the 3-2 victory seized over Monza in the regional knockout. Consequently, as the Black-and-blues have been listed in Group 1 (coupled with the likes AlbinoLeffe, Fiorentina and Milan), our lads will take part in the group stage to be held in Montichiari on the 30th of April.
As for our Female sides, disputing the Interregional Phase, the Under 15 come out on top from their Saturday outing against Sudtirol imposing themselves 3-2 (thanks to Boldrini with a brace and a single goal by Crotti) Likewise, the Under-17 also resulted victorious from today's home fixture played against Cittadella at the Centro Bortolotti in Zingonia clinching a 2-1 victory as Bertola and Testa featured the final scoresheet.
