Academy: the Midseason Roundup
State of play from the "Attività Agonistica"
With the winter break over the Christmas holidays, it's the perfect time to take stock of Atalanta's youth teams as they reach the halfway point of the season.
The Primavera sit seventh after 17 league games with 26 points, just a few off the pace at the top, shared by three teams on 30 points. Coach Bosi's outfit are still very much in the Coppa Italia hunt, having sailed through the opening rounds, and will face Cagliari in the RO16. While their UEFA Youth League may have ended after six matches, testing themselves against Europe's elite has been an invaluable experience.
Tiziano Polenghi's U18s are third with 31 points from 15 matches, just a point behind co-leaders Inter and Roma (who have a game in hand) and one ahead of fourth-placed Cesena.
Luca Bellingheri's U17s closed the first half of the season in fourth with 22 points from 12 games, two behind Milan and two clear of fifth-placed Cagliari.
Silvio Tribuzio’s U16s sit third with 27 points — one behind Inter and four off leaders Milan — while holding a healthy nine-point cushion over Hellas Verona.
Alfonso Esposito’s U15s are second after 11 matches with 24 points, just one behind Milan (a game they still need to play due to national team commitments) and three clear of third-placed Inter.
On the girls’ side, both the W-U17s and W-U15s squads are competing in the boys’ U14 provincial championship, gaining crucial experience ahead of the Women’s Interregional phases.
