A new lynchpin for the U23s' rearguard, welcome Matteo Plaia

Atalanta BC announce the permanent transfer of footballer Matteo Roberto Plaia from AS Roma.

Born in Bruxelles on March 29 2006, yet of Italian nationality, Plaia is a strapping centreback renowned for his commanding physicality. Coming through Roma's Youth ranks, he progressed all the way to the Primavera rungs. In his Giallorossi days, he lifted the Under-17s title and the Primavera Supercup in the 2023/24 campaign.

Last season he took his first steps in professional football with Perugia, racking up 14 appearances in Serie C.

On the International stage, he has earned 15 caps with Italy across the Azzurrini's U17s, U18s and U19s lines.

The Club welcomes Matteo to Bergamo and wishes him the very best for this new chapter in black and blue.
