A buzzer Brescianini goal to claim a crucial point at the Olimpico
The Lazio outing culminates in a 1-1 draw
Brescianini's late goal earns a vital point on a challenging ground as the 2024/25 Serie A Enilive MD18 sees Atalanta walk off the match at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome with a crucial point after sewing up a 1-1 draw against hosting side Lazio.
The first threat came on 10 minutes, but Carnesecchi was well alert and pulled off two great saves (one with his gloves, the other with his boot) to deny Castellanos, before Guendozi hit the post with a curling shot. Atalanta returned the threat in the 21st as Zappacosta's right footer grazed the post on Provedel's right. Lazio then took the lead in the 27th through Dele-Bashiru's finish after his solo run through the middle. The first half ended up with Atalanta on the offensive and inches away from the equaliser: although Pašalić's flick on Zappacosta's left-flanked cross floated towards an unmarked Djimsiti, our no.19 couldn't prod the Croatian's brush in with his full-stretch finish.
The Nerazzurri had a clear chance to equalize the game right away at the start of the second half, when Cuadrado’s 53-minute header from Bellanova’s cross went just wide off the post. The Nerazzurri ramped up the pressure, with Lookman forcing Provedel into a save in the 61st minute, and Samardžić shortly after having his shot blocked for a corner by a defender. Lookman had another go on 73 minutes when his curler shot went just wide. The Nerazzurri came close to equalizing in the 75th minute with Lookman’s close-range deflection from a corner, but Pellegrini cleared the ball off the line on two occasions. In the 78th minute, Carnesecchi made a crucial save to deny Dia’s attempt. The equaliser eventually came in the 88th: Zaniolo laid the ball off to Lookman, with the Nigerian gifting Brescianini with a pinpoint assist to score the 1-1 that eventually sealed the result at the final whistle.
