10-man Atalanta show huge character at Como
Goalless draw at the Sinigaglia as Carnesecchi saves 98th-minute penalty
Thanks to a huge display of character, Atalanta secured a massive point away at Como, playing most of the match a man down. Carnesecchi proved decisive in stoppage time by saving Nico Paz’s penalty, sealing a 0–0 draw at the Sinigaglia on Matchday 23 of the 2025/26 Serie A Enilive season.
It was an early setback for Atalanta, with Ahanor shown a red card after just eight minutes. Scamacca then tried his luck from a free-kick, but Butez was equal to it. Como piled on the pressure, yet despite being down to ten men, the Nerazzurri defended as a unit and stood firm. After Ramon’s header drifted wide on 28 minutes, Carnesecchi took centre stage to keep the hosts at bay: he parried Douvikas’ angled drive on 34 minutes, denied Nico Paz two minutes later and, moments after that, Scalvini stepped in decisively to prevent Perrone’s tap-in. Como pushed again before the break, but Atalanta stayed alert and held their ground.
The Nerazzurri also threatened on the counter early in the second half, with Kamaldeen bursting into the box only to be denied by Butez, who turned his effort behind. Ramon went close again on 52 minutes, his angled drive flashing wide, before Douvikas failed to convert Addai’s cross from close range on 58 minutes. Atalanta responded through Kamaldeen, whose effort was blocked, and Krstović, who nodded just wide from Bernasconi’s delivery. Como continued to probe: Morata’s header was straight at Carnesecchi, while Éderson fired inches wide from the edge of the box at the other end. On 83 minutes, Carnesecchi produced another superb save to deny Ramon. Late drama arrived deep into stoppage time when Como were awarded a penalty following a VAR review. But Carnesecchi capped a monumental performance by pulling off a sensational stop to deny Nico Paz from the spot, sealing a goalless draw and a massive point for the ten-man Nerazzurri.
