UEL Final – Atalanta v Bayer Leverkusen: The stats of the game

All the figures behind Atalanta's first European Laurel

Yet another outstanding chapter of Atalanta's history was etched in Dublin: not only did the Nerazzurri lift the UEFA Europa League, the first-ever European title in the history of the Club, but the Orobic outfit defied all odds and vanquished Bayer Leverkusen 3-0, thus crushing the recently crowned German Meisters' unbeaten streak of 51 games in all competition, by the hands of the hat-trick hero of the night Ademola Lookman.

As pointed out by Stats Perform's Opta facts, Atalanta are both the first Italian team to have lifted the Europa League ever since Parma -who seized the UEFA Cup, the forefather of the current UEL back in 1999- and the first Italian outfit to have scored 3+ goals in a European final since Milan's stint against Liverpool in 2005.

Ademola Lookman is but the second-ever player from an Italian team to have bagged a hat-trick in a major European final ever since Pierino Prati, who scored three goals in Milan's 4-1 win over Ajax back on May 28 1969.  Additionally, the Nigerian winger is the second player to have scored three goals in a UEFA Cup/Europa League since Josef Heynckes' feat with Borussia Mönchengladbach in the 1975 Gran Finale played against Twente. With his two goals scored in just 26 minutes, Atalanta's number 11 has been the fastest brace-scorer in a major European Final since Kurt Roland Hamrin (who bagged two in 19 minutes for Milan in the 1968 Cups Winners' Cup played against Hamburg).

According to the Data provided by Transfermarkt, Gian Piero Gasperini claimed his 200th win at the helm of Atalanta out of the 385 games managed throughout his tenure thus far - with an aggregate scoring tally of 744 goals.
