Samardžić at the death: 1-0 win over Bologna

A last-gasp goal from Samardžić decided the clash with Bologna. On Matchday 2 of the 2026/27 Serie A Enilive season at the New Balance Arena in Bergamo, victory came in the 96th minute courtesy of a superb strike from the Nerazzurri number 10, sealing three huge points and taking Atalanta to six points from their opening two games.

The visitors threatened first through Cambiaghi, whose left-footed effort when one-on-one with Carnesecchi was comfortably gathered by the Atalanta goalkeeper. Bernardeschi then tested Carnesecchi in the 18th minute, forcing the Nerazzurri shot-stopper into a diving save. In the 28th minute, Raspadori responded at the other end with a volley from the resulting corner, sending his effort just over the crossbar. Around the half-hour mark, Piccoli tried his luck from distance but fired wide. Scamacca then unleashed a powerful long-range effort in the 42nd minute, which Skorupski gathered at the second attempt. On the stroke of half-time, Carnesecchi produced a superb point-blank save to deny Ferguson, although the flag subsequently went up for offside in the build-up.

There was an early scare in the second half as Cambiaghi’s right-footed effort crashed against the post in the 52nd minute. The game remained finely balanced, with both defences getting the better of the attacks and plenty of battles all over the pitch. Late on, Amondarain dragged a low diagonal effort wide. Shortly afterwards, in the 88th minute, Carnesecchi produced a superb save to deny Bernardeschi’s left-footed effort. But just when the game looked destined to end goalless, Samardžić conjured up the winner in the 96th minute with a sudden left-footed strike from distance, finding the bottom corner to beat Bologna and send the Nerazzurri faithful into raptures.

Tomorrow, Tuesday 1 September, the team will resume training with a morning session behind closed doors in Zingonia.
