Ruggeri & Italy U21s in limbo ahead of quarter-final matchup
Deadlock in the battle for first place (1–1): Spain top the group
Italy U21s drew 1-1 with Spain, with Matteo Ruggeri coming on in the 84th minute.
With both sides already qualified in the Euros' quarter-finals, this match served to determine the group standings and which saw Spain finish top of the group thanks to a better goal tally. After starting and playing the full 90 minutes in the first two matches, Ruggeri was subbed on in the 84th minute.
The Azzurrini now await their quarter-final opponent, which will be decided in today’s Germany vs England match.
