International duty: Goal and assist for Kessie in Ivory Coast win

Thirteen Nerazzurri have been called up by their respective national teams for this late September-early October international window: twelve with their senior sides and one, Relja Obrić, with Slovenia U21.

The international window got under way today, Thursday 24 September, with the first two Atalanta players in action: Franck Kessie with Ivory Coast and Lazar Samardžić with Serbia.

Ivory Coast ran out 2-0 winners over Ghana, with Franck Kessie at the heart of both goals: he set up the opener before stepping up from the spot to double the lead himself.

There was late disappointment for Lazar Samardžić’s Serbia, who fell to a 2-1 defeat against Greece after conceding in stoppage time. The Nerazzurri midfielder was an unused substitute.

Tomorrow, Friday 25 September, the Nations League takes over, bringing seven Nerazzurri into action and two Atalanta reunions with a twist: De Ketelaere faces Carnesecchi, Raspadori, Scalvini and Scamacca in Italy v Belgium, while Kolašinac and Zalewski line up on opposite sides in Poland v Bosnia and Herzegovina. Krstović completes the line-up as Montenegro host Cyprus.
