Late heartbreak at the Olimpico despite Éderson’s goal

At the Stadio Olimpico, Roma claimed all three points on Matchday 3 of the 2026/27 Serie A Enilive season with two late goals, overturning Éderson’s opener for the Nerazzurri.

The tempo was high from the off at the Olimpico, with plenty of intensity all over the pitch. The first chance came after 14 minutes, when Mancini met the ball with a header, but Carnesecchi was well positioned to make a diving save. The Nerazzurri goalkeeper was called into action again to deny Cristante in the 21st minute and Malen from closer range in the 41st. At the other end, Scamacca had tried his luck from the edge of the box in the 32nd minute, with Svilar gathering his effort at the second attempt.

After the break, Atalanta came out with renewed determination and broke the deadlock in the 47th minute: De Ketelaere won his duel with Hermoso down the left before Éderson reacted quickest to the loose ball, beating Svilar with a powerful right-footed strike to put the Nerazzurri ahead. In the 54th minute, Carnesecchi was alert once again to keep out Koné’s effort from distance, before the Nerazzurri went close to doubling their lead twice: Samardžić turned his effort wide in the 56th minute, before Krstović, played through by De Ketelaere, narrowly missed the target. Roma went close in the 64th minute, with Castro denied by the post. Roma pushed hard for an equaliser, with Soulé heading straight at Carnesecchi, Dybala curling a left-footed effort wide and Cristante steering a header off target. After a double save from Carnesecchi to deny Dybala and Wesley, Roma found the equaliser in the 90th minute as Hermoso headed home from a corner. The Giallorossi kept up the pressure in the closing stages, with Soulé and Castro both firing off target, before Soulé struck in the 93rd minute to complete the turnaround and make it 2-1.

The team will return to training at the Centro Bortolotti on Monday afternoon, with the session taking place behind closed doors.
