Krstović Strikes to Sink Monza
1-0 Victory at the Stadio Brianteo
Krstović's seventh league goal of the season secured all three points for Atalanta against Monza on Matchday 11 of the 2026/27 Serie A Enilive campaign, as the Nerazzurri claimed a 1-0 victory at the Stadio Brianteo.
Atalanta survived an early scare in the 7th minute when Lucchesi whipped a dangerous cross into the box, but nobody was on hand to apply the finishing touch. Carnesecchi then took centre stage in the 24th minute, producing a string of saves to deny Varela twice, followed by Robinson and Kouadio. At the other end, Zalewski sent a free-kick over the bar shortly before the half-hour mark, before Varela fired high from a promising position in the 31st minute. The Nerazzurri threatened again in the 39th minute through De Ketelaere, who powered his way into the box down the inside-left channel but, under pressure from a defender, was unable to keep his powerful left-footed strike down. The final chance of the first half fell to Zappacosta, whose right-footed effort sailed over the crossbar in stoppage time.
The deadlock was broken four minutes after the restart, as a neat combination down the left released Bernasconi to deliver a cross. Tornqvist could only get a touch on the ball, and Krstović was quickest to react, turning it home to give Atalanta the lead in the 49th minute. Monza looked to respond through Robinson, but Carnesecchi was equal to his effort. In the 57th minute, De Ketelaere picked out Zalewski with a chance to double the advantage, only for the Pole's shot to be blocked by a defender. Two minutes later, Pašalić found a way through on goal, but Tornqvist denied him and turned the ball behind for a corner. Éderson also tried his luck twice from distance, with the Monza goalkeeper keeping out both efforts. In the 74th minute, Elmas delivered a cross for Krstović, whose finish flashed narrowly wide of the post. Carnesecchi was alert to Colpani's left-footed effort from the edge of the box in the 83rd minute, before De Ketelaere tested Tornqvist at the other end. Despite a frantic finish, Atalanta held on to their slender lead to secure a valuable 1-0 away victory and three precious points.
