Atalanta v Torino: the stats of the game
All the figures from Atalanta's sixth consecutive league win
Not only did the home game against Torino mark Atalanta's 6th consecutive league win (thus equalling the winning streak set back in November-December 2021), but it also meant Gian Piero Gasperini's 250th Serie A career win. As stressed by Stats Per**form's Opta Facts report, for the first time in their league history, Atalanta can flaunt 4 players who have broken double-digit scoring records within a single season: namely, Gianluca Scamacca (12), Teun Koopmeiners (12), Charles De Ketelaere (10) and Ademola Lookman (10), who scored the second of the evening against the Maroons. This record thus puts Atalanta on par with Napoli, who were the last Club to have reached such a remarkable feat back in the 2016/17 campaign. On the grounds of their three-goal win against Torino, the Nerazzurri have also updated their seasonal scoring bests, having reached a tally of 104 nets in all competitions this season: only twice before since the 1929/30 stretch had Atalanta scored more goals in a single campaign - namely in 2019/20 with 116 nets and in 2020/21 with 111. With 41 points claimed at the Gewiss Stadium in the 18 league games played thus far, only in the 1947/48 stint (with 48) had Atalanta racked up more points at home in a single Serie A season ever since the introduction of the 3-point-per-win rule.
With Gianluca Scamacca opening the scoring, no other player in the Big-5 European leagues has been involved in more goals in all competition since the last international break of March '24: with 14 nets to his name (namely 10 scored and 4 assists provided), Atalanta's number 90 is now on par with Chelsea striker Cole Palmer. In 2024 alone, only Dybala and Vlahovic (both with 12) have favoured more Serie A goals than Scamacca (currently at 11, with 7 nets and 4 key passes) and Charles De Ketelaere (11, who featured eight times on the scoreboard and donned the wingman cape three times). With Teun Koopmeiners being the third Atalanta player with 11 goals to his name (9G+2A), the Dutchman is on par with Zapata (8G+3A) and Leão (6G+5A). Additionally, thanks to his 12 goals and 6 assists in the 2023/24 season, Scamacca has bested Cristiano Doni and Sergio Floccari's previous records (both tied on 17 nets) from the 2007/08 and 2008/09 stints respectively and has thus become the first Italian player to have favoured 18+ goals for Atalanta in a single Serie A campaign in the last 20 years (since the 2004/05 campaign).
Having scored the goal that sewed the win up on the day that marked his 250th appearance for Atalanta in all competitions, Mario Pašalić has thus waylaid Ivan Perisic as the Serie A's best Croatian scorer (both tied on 49 goals). Additionally, Pašalić has bagged six Serie A goals this season, the whole of them at the Gewiss Stadium.
The game was also marked by the seasonal Serie A debut of Francesco Rossi: Atalanta's third goalkeeper has thus become the 29th Nerazzurro to have appeared in the current league campaign.
Closing off with the individual figures provided by the Serie A's official Match Report, while Emil Holm, Lookman and Pašalić lead the chart for shots fired (all tied with 4); Davide Zappacosta is the on-field benchmark for successful passes on the offensive third (17). Whilst De Ketelaere created the most chances (3), Teun Koopmeiners was the leading Nerazzurro for most balls played (66) and most successful passes (45), in addition to being the game specimen for ball retrievals (9).
