Despite the Nerazzurri's best efforts, made all the more outstanding given that Atalanta U23s played the whole second half one-man-down, Giana Erminio imposed themselves 3-1 at the municipal stadium in Caravaggio.

The hosts had the first chance of the game on 11 minutes through De Nipoti who, after leaving his marker in the dust, saw his left-footed effort deflected out for a corner. In the follow-up, Del Lungo almost broke the deadlock with a headed finish towards the near post, haphazardly parried by Mangiapoco. Finalizing the visitors' counter on 16 minutes, Trombetta gave Giana Erminio the lead. On 38 minutes, Vavassori freed Navarro in the box with a masterstroke play, but the Spanish defender saw his effort parried by the opposing keeper without a hitch. The visitors doubled on 43 minutes through Stuckler, whose effort suqeezed into the net after ecountering an untoward yet key deflection.

Bouncing back with grit, the Nerazzurri halved the gap right after the start of the second half through Tornaghi, who found the winning paw following a corner-kick situation. On 55 minutes another stumbling block cropped up for the Nerazzurri as the referee sent off De Nipoti, already booked following the yellow card waved in the first half, due to an alleged second offence. Despite being one man down, Atalanta U23s didn't throw the towel but wnet all out for the comeback. In the 87th Del Lungo deflected the opposing point-blank shot to hold off Giana's third. Barely 2 minutes later Lamesta eventually doubled the visitors' gap by converting the spot-kick awarded after Alessio's foul.
